Lawrence Kohn, Ed.D.

Lawrence became a Founding Partner and Chief Research and Evaluation Officer for Leadership Partners in December 2016, after serving in the role of Director of Programs and Evaluation for the Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP). Lawrence worked with Executive Education in the Jones Graduate School of Business to provide business school programming for school leaders as well as with national faculty who taught in the REEP Summer Institute and throughout the 14-month program for school leaders. Lawrence also conducted research and program evaluation for REEP. He teaches an assessment course at Rice University for the Masters of Arts in teaching program and teaches doctoral education courses at the University of Houston. Lawrence joined REEP in 2012.

Before working for REEP, Lawrence was a tenure track professor in the Curriculum and Instruction department at Sam Houston State University, where he taught methods courses to undergraduate students seeking teaching certification, and he was the coordinator for the secondary teaching program. Previously, he was the founding principal of Atascocita High School in Humble ISD, the principal of Quest High School in Humble (now Quest Early College High School), and an English teacher prior to those roles. In addition, he is a published author of multiple articles and book chapters. His research interests are in professional learning community, assessment, leadership, and high school reform and redesign.

He was named the Outstanding Curriculum and Instruction Doctoral Student of the Year 2000-2001, University of Houston, College of Education and served as a Commissioner for the Commission on the Whole Child, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Washington D.C. (2005). He received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the SHSU College of Education in 2010.

He received his doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston his Master of Education in Historical, Social, and Cultural Foundations from the University of Houston and his Bachelor of Arts in English from Youngstown State University.
